Paul's Handcrafted Pens and Bottle Stoppers

I started making pens about a year ago, after first seeing pen-making kits and tools in the Lee Valley tool catalog.  I've collected antique fountain pens for more than 20 years, so I appreciate fine writing instruments.  All of my pens are rollerballs, except for the click pen which is a ballpoint.  I decided not to make fountain pens except on commission, since so few people write with fountain pens.

I just started making wine bottle stoppers, and will post photos of bottle stoppers when I have built up more of an inventory.

Here are photos and information regarding the pens I currently have available. Each pen is unique, both in terms of materials and shape.  Once a pen is sold, it's gone, baby, gone.

This is a rollerball made from Desert Ironwood, found in the American southwest.  The wood has a rich, dark brown color with pronounced grain.  This pen is available for $100.

This next pen is a rollerball made from Brown Mallee burlwood.  Mallee is an Australian eucalyptus.  The burl is actually a kind of tumor that is found on trees.  Burlwoods are highly sought after by woodworkers as well as by admirers of fine wood products, for their distinctive and unique figuring.  This particular pen also has some beautiful sapwood, which is the light cream colored area.  This pen is available for $100.

This is an Amboyna burl rollerball.  Amboyna burl, usually found in Indonesia, is one of the most highly sought woods by woodworkers, and this particular specimen has a rich, deep brown color with fascinating whorls.  This pen is available for $125.

This is an acrylic rollerball pen, with a long barrel and a cap that features a rare earth magnet. The magnet allows the cap to sit snugly on either the top of the pen, or the bottom while you are writing.  This pen is available for $100.

Another acrylic rollerball pen, this time with vivid red and pearlescent coloring.  This is one of the first pens I made, and I'll part with it for $100.

This green acrylic rollerball reminds me of a lava lamp.  If you like the feel of a big fat pen in your hand, this is the pen for you.  This pen is available for $100.

My camera abilities don't do justice to this green and black acrylic rollerball.  The colors form a flake pattern on the barrel and cap.  This pen is available for $100.

This pen is made from a wood called Pau Rosa, which is a form of rosewood. It has a rich dark brown coloration, with a pronounced grain.  This pen is available for $100.

The last pen is an acrylic click pen that reminds me of taffy.  It's a little lighter than the other pens, and is the only ballpoint I have available. This pen is available for $50.

Replacement ink cartridges are available at any good office supply store.  If you are interested in any of the pens, please contact me via e-mail at paolo1295@yahoo.com.  As I mentioned, each pen is unique, and once a pen is sold, it is gone for good.
