****PARTICIPATE NOV 25: Blanket the Earth The idea: on November 25, the day after Thanksgiving, people will gather in designated spots in cities around the country where there are encampments of OWS protesters.
They will have warm weather gear to donate to the protesters. This can be blankets, socks, sleeping bags, hand and foot warmers, sweaters, or anything you think can be used to keep the camping protesters warm throughout the winter. The items can be secondhand (and clean, you know). New items can be purchased whenever, preferably not on the exploitative day coined by marketers as "Black Friday."
The goal here is to show our support not just through the kindness of monetary donations, but by being physically present to demonstrate that we're here for the protesters.

PARTICIPATE NOV 25 (& throughout the holiday season): OCCUPY BLACK FRIDAY Let's take a day that is all about consumption and make it our own, and let's make it loud and clear that we will not support the corporations that destroyed our economy and undermined our Republic.Instead of a "Buy Nothing Day" we'll have a "Buy Local Day." Instead of buying a bunch of useless crap, let's instead go out and help the poor. Volunteer at soup kitchens and host toy drives and do the other charitable things that the government refuses to do. A season of giving instead of a season of buying.
OCCUPY THE HIGHWAY A group of OWS'ers are embarking have embarked on a two-week 200 mile march TODAY on Wed Nov. 9, 2011 from Liberty Plaza to the Whitehouse to let the Congressional Deficit Reduction Super-Committee know what the 99% think about whether or not to keep Obama's extension to the Bush tax-cuts. Join them if you can or give support along the way

Occupy Together is working with Take the Square to build HowToOccupy/HowToCamp Methods, techniques and knowledge on Taking the Square. We want to establish a global network which is able to offer to global public the necessary tools of rising up.
Occupy protesters want shoppers to occupy something besides door-buster sales and crowded mall parking lots on Black Friday.
Some don't want people to shop at all. Others just want to divert shoppers from big chains and giant shopping malls to local mom-and-pops. And while the actions don't appear coordinated, they have similar themes: supporting small businesses while criticizing the day's dedication to conspicuous consumption and the shopping frenzy that fuels big corporations.
I think we've all had those times where the rug has been pulled out from underneath you. In my case it was multiple rugs, a Persian carpet store if you will. I was going through a divorce; I lost my job, got evicted from my apartment and was sleeping in my car in a Starbucks parking lot in Beverly Hills. Stupidity, pride and his good friend ego had kept me from reaching out and asking for help from my family or anyone else for that matter.
Inspired by the Arab Spring demonstrations in Tahir Square, Cairo, Egypt, they sought to replicate the symbolism of those uprisings and to emulate the consensus decision making of the 5-M Indignants Movement protests happening in Spain. Beginning with one isolated demand - a presidential commission to separate money from politics - the global protest phenomenon called "Occupy Wall Street" has emerged in just a few short months, a populist movement that has successfully reframed the discussion about the global impact of corporate dominion and the economic inequities that it creates.
"I'm here because in Sugar Land, sometimes we don't pay attention to what is happening not only in the rest of the state, but in the rest of the country," said Nancy Henshel, a principal member of the local movement. "Now I want everybody to know, because I live in Sugar Land, that I am a capitalist, but I'm a simple capitalist," she said. "I'm not for a predatory capitalistic system that takes advantage of people not only locally, but in the community at large."
It turns out that getting an RSVP from Occupy D.C. is at least as complicated as getting an RSVP from any organization in Washington.
Inviting revolutionaries - especially revolutionaries without formal leadership - to Thanksgiving dinner would require an understanding of newly created principles, navigating an ad hoc democracy amid blue tarps, trudging among encampments and weaving between young idealists and old idealists. Then waiting to see who showed up.
Police efforts to break up Occupy encampments in Northern California and elsewhere have led to investigations, apologies and lawsuits. And now the soul-searching: Why did some officers use what is being described as excessive force, wielding batons and pepper spray, against apparently peaceful protesters?
After a first camp outside Cardiff Castle lasted less than six hours, protesters belonging to the global Occupy movement have established a more permanent home on a corner of one of the city centre's busiest junctions.
The direct action was sparked by the forced deportation of several families in recent months. It was organised by The Unity Centre, a Glasgow-based solidarity centre for asylum seekers, along with the No Borders Network.
They were joined by smaller groups such as the Govan and Craigton Integration Network and members of the Occupy Glasgow movement. In all, around 60 people turned out to support yesterday's action, bearing banners with slogans such as "End Dawn Raids", "Stop the Snatch Squads" and "Nae Borders". Strathclyde Police deployed around 25 officers.
