Tuesday's Sunset

by: Eddie C

Tue Apr 27, 2010 at 22:19:53 PM EDT

Cross-posted at Docudharma.

There were some good views tonight.

Look below if you would like to see fifteen more in five stages from tonight's Bronx sunset.

Eddie C :: Tuesday's Sunset
The weather in New York changed all day today. The clouds from the last rain were still hanging in there at late afternoon.

I guess this was the best view in this series. Notice how the wind is sweeping the water around in the bright sunlight.

Dancing in and out of the clouds.

Another shot at warm brightness just a sundown.

Then comes twilight and the night is young.

The fireflies come out to dance.

thanks (15.00 / 6)
so beautiful... i feel as if i am there.  Thanks again!

Hey I didn't know any Fireflies were still awake this late (15.00 / 5)
I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Glorious, Eddie! (15.00 / 3)
God, I miss the Hudson.  And NY harbor & the ferry & statue.  And the Atlantic Ocean.  And going out on party boats for blues.  And world-class museums and theater.  And people who know how to walk faster than a snail's pace and who don't consider a long block "a long walk".

And all my friends there.  Whom I haven't seen since I've been working this shitty job that barely pays for bus fare to work. /whine

I had to work today (15.00 / 6)
What a great day and now the fridge is stocked full of Fairway.

Ah, shuddup (kidding!) (15.00 / 4)
So glad things are going well for you, Eddie.

Any chance you can get me into the union?

I know nothing about stagehand work, but...I know how to use a hand truck!  I know which end of a staple gun is "up"!

(sigh)

Really glad things are finally looking up for you.  NYC will recover very quickly, I think, as long as the exchange rate allows for plenty of European tourists.

Here?  Not so much...but a little bit.  Franklin & Marshall College is here & it has an excellent reputation & as far as I can tell, a reasonably international student body, for a fairly small school.

Gorgeous Eddie (14.67 / 6)
The perfect thing to end my day with.

Those last 2 shots sure do have some wonderful colors.

All in a day's work (15.00 / 7)
You know what they say. It's a dirty job...

...but someone's got to do it.

Now I just hope my boss doesn't find out how busy I was today.

The azaleas & dogwoods are just gorgeous.... (14.67 / 6)
but I've wanted to see that version of South Pacific since Frank Rich referred to it in a column a few years ago (I think he said he wasn't the only one with "misty eyes" in the audience but don't remember his exact words.  Whatever: it was a glowing ... non-review ... and the real reviews glowed as well).

Did you say Dogwood? (15.00 / 3)

Talk about "barking up the right tree." My favorite.

The Kousa dogwood is coming soon. When it does that that will be my favorite.

Come to think of it when the Cornus mas was in bloom, that was my fave.

I'm just a dog when it comes to trees.

Of course I'm kidding, my favorite is a tie between the Kwanzan Cherries here and the Jacarandas in southern California.

You (15.00 / 4)
paint New York with the eye of a lover.

The first one in this series, what is that?

Trees coming out of concrete, the ring around the fountain a place to reflect, water falling canceling out traffic, red chairs under trees read in the sun or shade, South Pacific (!), azaleas and dogwood blooming signs of spring defying the concrete, steel, glass and pavement.. the eye of a lover.

The first photo is one of the two new glass awnings (15.00 / 4)
That connect Lincoln Center to Columbus Ave. and Broadway. The one in the photo connects the Avery Fisher Hall portico and mirroring it on the other side of the plaza audience mambers will stay dry on the way to the NYCB in the building formerly known as the New York State Theater.

Keep up the great work, Eddie C! (15.00 / 6)
Thanks for the great pictures all around!!:)

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Oh Eddie (14.60 / 5)
I love waking up to your sunsets, because you are east of me it makes me feel like they are sun rises, Wonderful way to start the day.

me too! (15.00 / 4)
i'm early to bed but...

if you start at the bottom.....

it works!
(^.^)
