New Riot Police Shields Will Suffocate Protestors With Acoustic Waves

More new toys on the horizon from Raytheon of Waltham, Massachusetts to make the coming police state terror goons as efficient as possible when dealing with those dirty f'ing regular people sleeping in parks unreasonably expecting that their constitutional rights will still accrue in the new world order.

Yoo ain't seen nuthin' yet...

Raytheon has a patent pending now for a new police shield that produces a low-frequency sound which resonates with the respiratory tract, making it hard to breathe. According to the patent, the intensity could be increased from causing discomfort to the point where targets become "temporarily incapacitated".

Edger :: New Riot Police Shields Will Suffocate Protestors With Acoustic Waves
Gizmodo explains: Future Riot Shields Will Suffocate Protestors with Low Frequency Speakers

But Raytheon's non-lethal pressure shield creates a pulsed pressure wave that resonates the upper respiratory tract of a human, hindering breathing and eventually incapacitating the target. The patent points out that the sound waves being generated are actually not that powerful, so while protestors might collapse from a lack of oxygen reaching their brains, their eardrums won't be damaged in the process. Phew!

And like Roman soldiers joining their shields to form a large impenetrable wall, these new riot shields can actually be networked together to form a larger acoustical horn, vastly improving their range, power, and effectiveness. There's no word on what the long-term medical implications might be if you find yourself on the wrong side of one of these shields. But I imagine the unpleasant experience is not unlike being force choked from afar by Darth Vader.

Raytheon declined to comment on the work, says a NewScientist.com article, which also notes that:

"We do not have sufficient technical detail yet to determine if there are any hidden medical implications," says Steve Wright of Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK. "These are always a concern because of the risk to sensitive bodily functions such as hearing, or even inducing panic attacks in asthmatics."

The biggest danger, he warns, is that the technology would be used for political control. "If authorities in Egypt or Syria had this, would they use it for dispersal or to shove crowds into potentially lethal harm's way?"

Egypt or Syria? Or Occupy Wall Street?

Ooops. Sorry for accidentally suffocating you to death. Can you hear me?

It's Getting Better All The Time... (15.33 / 3)

A horror - and more on the horizon no doubt. (15.50 / 2)
But look, Edger, we're leaving Iraq, right?  So there's good news!  Of course, the admin/govt thinks we're idiots - we don't know the troops are just being moved around on the chess board and the huge mercentary force is being paid by the war fairy, so we're saving huge amounts.  As well, mercs make lots more money than ordinary soldiers --

Iraq chased us out of Iraq, not this admin who wanted to stay there.  They would prosecute "war crimes" - and we can't have that.

The hell they won't cut SS and Medicare for wars.

God, I'm ashamed of the elites/Congress/admin of this country and let's face it - many of its citizens - at a senior citizens' breakfast recently, we had to stand up and sing God Bless America at start.  I couldn't rise - my body wouldn't do it, so I started searching in my purse as if I needed something.  Yeah, a hankie for the tears.

Leaving Iraq? (15.00 / 3)
Says who? That's the biggest propaganda lie going right now.

U.S. Planning Troop Buildup in Gulf After Exit From Iraq

MacDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Obama administration plans to bolster the American military presence in the Persian Gulf after it withdraws the remaining troops from Iraq this year, according to officials and diplomats. That repositioning could include new combat forces in Kuwait able to respond to a collapse of security in Iraq or a military confrontation with Iran.
[snip]
During town-hall-style meetings with military personnel in Asia [in October], the secretary of defense, Leon E. Panetta, noted that the United States had 40,000 troops in the region, including 23,000 in Kuwait, though the bulk of those serve as logistical support for the forces in Iraq.

That "region" count does not include Afghanistan, where by the end of 2012 after his drawdown Obama will have only twice as many troops in Afghanistan as were there on the day he was inaugurated.

Obama has more troops in the region that Bush ever did even at his height.

Chicago Rally to Thank Obama for Supposedly Ending War in Iraq Turns Up 30 Speakers and 10 Audience Members

Obama promised to make ending the war in Iraq his first act in office. Then he did what he could to avoid ending it. Forced by Bush and Maliki and the Iraqis to remove troops, he's keeping troops nearby and filling bases with mercenaries, while expanding ground and drone wars around the region and claiming the power to make war anywhere he likes, including having already done so in Libya. Nonetheless a hearty band of Obama-Right-Or-Wrongers planned a rally in Chicago to praise the president for . . . well, for something or other.

This is pretty scary stuff. (15.00 / 3)
It's about the scary aspects of technology, too.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
