Mother's Day Sunset

by: Eddie C

Sun May 09, 2010 at 21:26:50 PM EDT

Cross-posted at Docudharma.

There was no sunset tonight in New York. Well the sun set but it could not be seen around here. The photo below is 7:59 PM, sundown this time of year. At least the green of the Palisades can be seen for a change.

There was still some views worth recording. I don't know if others will enjoy tonight's view but I really like seeing the cloud formations change at the end of the day.

Change is good, so my usual start to finish is below the fold.

Eddie C :: Mother's Day Sunset
I came home to some promising streaks in the sky this afternoon.

The sun will show up!

Alright now that's a bit much.

Calming down a bit on the brightness.

There that's better.

Back to streaks.

It looks like the ships are going home but two are just parked for the evening.

A little more light on the water than in the sky.

And that fades too.

Keeping it green for Mother's Day.

Just before sundown.

The last light of the day.

But look when the sky clears.

Perhaps a better tomorrow. Have a great week.

It was like winter here today (15.00 / 5)
Tomorrow, the first night the sun will set this year at 8 o'clock, the temperature is going all the way up to 59° with a clear sky.

It was kind of like March here, Eddie C. (15.00 / 5)
Although the temperatures here were in the fifties, there was a cold, gusty wind, which made it feel considerably colder than it really was.  Tomorrow's supposed to be better here, too, I think.

Great sunsets, Eddie C...especially the ones at  twilight, just before it gets dark.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Hi mplo (9.80 / 5)
Because I live on high floor and this is past the date when heat gets sent up I'm freezing my butt off.

I just watched Treme wrapped up in blankets like I was on a February camping trip.

Hi, Eddie C. (14.50 / 4)
Sorry that it's so cold in your apartment that you've had to watch TV while wrapped up in blankets.  It's still fairly cold this morning here in the Bay State too, but at least everything's pretty green and lush.   I just put on a sweatshirt when I feel cold, and make sure that I'm wearing socks, but our weather patterns have been so wierd lately, it's hard to know what's coming about next.

Stay warm!

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
