| cruising the intertoobz for the past six or seven years had left me disheartened & despondant. i was sick & tired of hearing what is wrong on each & every issue and about each & every politician.... and about each and every bloggers opinion.
i was tired of the mud slinging and name calling and how every disagreement devolved into schoolyard type battles of "poopyhead" "am not!" "are too!"
it's past time to cease & desist in pointing out what is wrong & how this or that will not work. that type of mind-think leads one down the wrong path, imho.
i think that we cannot depend on our government to "save" us from anything, we can only rely on ourselves, on each other. that by sharing our experiences & knowledge we can find alternative solutions to problems we face in our lives.
if we are to help each other, we need to be partners in the pursuit of growth, not opponents. so it makes no sense to put up fake walls between us. the ego needs walls to protect it, but if we can get past the fear-based needs of the ego, we'll make a lot more progress.
so we need to be figuring out how to help enough people switch their primary focus from fear to love. our emotions are an energy source for us and most of the world is still fear-driven. but there's another fuel for human consciousness. perhaps the best way to describe it is unconditional love. this isn't the squidgy emotion of romantic love - it's a sense of connection to everything that exists and a desire to serve the highest good of all. unconditional love, when it becomes one's primary fuel, cultivates fearlessness.
when enough people switch their primary focus from fear to unconditional love, this planet will become a true paradise.... real human beings helping real human beings - that is ultimately what will save the planet.....
i think we can find ways for everyhuman to make minor changes in their lifestyles, to live in a more thoughtful manner....things that if many, many people adopt these ways will result in a vast undercutting of the huge powerful corporations & lobbyists in the only place that matters to them - their profit margins.
i call this maneuver "subversive politics" & i hope that eventually the resulting outcome will be the downfall of the huge monopolistic corporations who care nothing for people & only for profit.
so.
i was encouraged by some friends to start my own wee-tiny blog, to share my vision, gather like-minded people.
but what should i name it? i thought & thought, came up with & discarded several dozen ideas....
then i remembered the article mishima pointed out and it all fell into place....
i started a little place... firefly-dreaming blogspot ... and started writing about problems & solutions i see for them. i told some friends about it & invited them to come & share knowledge & solutions.
then with the help of saintly patrons the dream grew just a bit... broadened in its scope....
& my wee-tiny site grew up to be a "real" SoapBlox blog.
each of us, in our own capacities, reaching out and trying to make a better world, fireflies illuminating even the darkest nights..... |
