These are what call out Fire Flies.
Without the sun setting, we could never see the glow of fireflies.
They should be out soon.

Sunsets (15.00 / 8)
Have a great week end

Gorgeous, KH (14.67 / 6)
Just...stunning.  Thank you.

English usage is sometimes more than mere taste, judgment and education - sometimes it's sheer luck, like getting across the street.

Thanks, I see these from inside the house, & with cameras always at the ready, I can just walk out on the deck & enjoy.

gha! (14.60 / 5)
these are amazing!
i love how you take multiple shots & put them together....

the one that takes my breath away is 6 from the bottom.
the yellow-orange sky fading up to blue & the water sparkling
it's majikal

thank you for these!

how high would the gallows need to be to hang the rich man?"

RiaD (15.00 / 6)
It would be difficult to come up with that many colors found in one event, a sunset.
The thing about using multiple images is that in a picture made of 15 images, I can print it 15 times larger than one single picture of the same sunset.

i want to thank you for this oasis of peace.
i have come here several times today to calm down.
the gulf gusher news is breaking my heart, as i am sure it is yours.
i think of the beautiful creatures you have shown me and wonder if soon they will only be in tanks like your.... their natural habitat destroyed by greed.
and so i come here. to look at the natural beauty of sunsets...
hoping that there will be more days...
for people to wakethehell up & realize what is happening... & put a stop to it.

I too have been devastated by the ongoing catastrophe in the gulf.
I show everybody pix of my reefs & never stop talking about the need to preserve the heartbeat of Mother Earth.
The advances in reef keeping & aqua culture of specimens, both sessile (corals) & motile (fish, crabs, snails etc etc) is so important. The gains made in just the past twenty years are immeasurable.
Every Reefer deserves a hug.
And Eelroy has something for all ocean destroyers. A bite.
I ask everyone to revisit this essay I put up concerning the gulf spill.
This is what`s at risk.
The opening shot is a truck, a 1953 Chevy called "Oil Slick".
Beyond the shot is what I want everyone to see.
It only got 3 comments.
Here`s the link.
Please, just take a look.

knucklehead~ (14.33 / 3)
very very few had a clue right from the very beginning what this would mean.... who realized right away that this meant the demise of millions of beings chocking to death on oil.

i have been telling everyone at orange, those who say it'll only kill some of the fish
i have been trying to nicely let them know they're fucking idiots not seeing the larger picture....

like this comment that got 8 recs(!!):

I really, really don't think this spill is going

to kill the oceans. Conceivably (and I don't know the estimated volume of the resevoir, so I don't know how distant this possibility it) the oil gusher could make the Gulf a dead zone for a while if it all drained out. But the world's oceans are BIG - there simply isn't enough oil in there to do that.
http://www.dailykos.com/commen...

and my reply which got 1 rec:

maybe

but what it will do is break the food chain...
it will kill all the fragile things: grasses, seaweed, plankton, corals, anemones, shellfish(crabs, oysters, mussels, clams, shrimp) & anything else that can't move quickly... all of which are fed on by other beings, from the shores of probably texas through ALL the gulf states, around florida taking in cuba, haiti, dominican republic & bahamas & up the east coast to at least north carolina.
without this food the larger species will die, especially those that have a very restricted diet (turtles)

i despair.
the intelligence of humanity seems at times non-existant.
i cannot teach the world but i can point out (the obvious) mistakes in their logic when i encounter them.
i often think of you... & your way of schooling others...
you are quite an inspiration to me.

& yes i revisited your oil essay.
such beautiful images....
{{{{{knucklehead}}}}}
you're my favorite reefer!

What some don`t realize is that to me & many, it does not matter how many are killed, it`s that any are.
What the hell is the cutoff mark.
When do they become concerned.
It`s like marking off war dead by thousands.
Yup, we just passed 1000 this week.
Oh! we`re at 2000 six months later.
The milestones of human deaths, (& only "OUR" deaths) are marked off this way.
Just numbers on a tote board.
But I`m just a DFH Reefing Biker, what do I know. Hah

Thanks RiaD, sometimes I think I`m just lost in an acid trip & all this is just a figmentation of my imaginate.

Or is it a figment of my imagination.

thanks, knucklehead (14.60 / 5)
these are breathtaking.

Thanks, Knuck! (14.60 / 5)
I can't pick a favorite -- each is stunningly, brilliantly beautiful!

Merci, toujours!

I totally agree, Tahoe! (15.00 / 5)

Thank you for stopping by.
If you are as impressed by sunsets as I am, I could never pick a favorite either.
There`s always one more, tomorrow.

[ Parent ]
Hi, KH! (15.00 / 2)
You're welcome.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

BTW, Knuck, (15.00 / 3)
I did see the oil slick essay --- it's all beyond heartbreaking.  Along with the food factor, is the splendid beauty that is being devastated.

Of interest to you, peut-etre, is this comment I made here.  You might respond to a thought posed therein, should you wish!

Magnificent pics!  Merci!

Stunning every one, (13.80 / 5)
I love the one that Ria mentioned it looks as if there is light coming from under the water!!

THEN the grand finale, the last one is almost more than my breath can take!!

Bear Shake Tree Pictures, Images and Photos

Kathleen (14.80 / 5)
The one Ria mentioned is a little unusual since it is a break in a storm system.
I`m glad you concur about the last one, since, even though it is not completely merged to a final image, I liked it as is, & also why I posted it last.
Sometimes the last impression, is even more telling than the first.
Thank you for coming by.
You are always welcome.
And bring "that guy" along. hahahhahaaha.
