Rachael Maddow pretending to be the president

( - promoted by Dreamer)

The day after the president's speech from the oval office about the tragedy in the Gulf Rachael said she was so disturbed by what he didn't say, the missed opportunity that rarely comes to take the bull by the horns.

Her head just kept churning. All she could think about was what should have been said so she wrote it down and this was the result...

For those who haven't seen it, it is a mind blower as she once again hits the mark.

Rachael in all her brilliance......

brilliant... (14.12 / 8)
just brilliant. if only the president had even come close to the passion, intelligence, the persuasiveness and urgency that Rachel conveyed.......

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see. ~ Thoreau ... and, do no harm

it seems she has felt a disturbance in the force my young padawan...... (15.00 / 6)

Yay Rachel! (14.50 / 4)
Obama - not so much...

On the Ed show the next day, Ed said that the speech didn't matter so much, but that Obama had stuck it to em in the meeting at the white house and that was what really counted. Naah, not correct. 20 billion bucks is a drop in the bucket. If Obama had gotten say a half trillion out of BP, I would have given him a pass on the speech, but 20 billion over the next 3 to 5 yrs? That totally sux, too...
Nothing the lying liars at BP say means anything anyway...

"In proportion to the vigor of the individual, these revolutions are frequent, until in some happier mind they are incessant..." R.W.Emerson - Compensation

At work that night, so I missed (12.00 / 4)
The Oval Office Speech.  But I've seen this video & yeah, Rachel's terrific.

BTW, Gail Collins of the NYT did a column about The Boring Speech.  Here's a teaser:

On Monday night in Ohio, a 62-foot-tall statue of Jesus got hit by lightning and burned to the ground. (The adult bookstore across the street was unscathed.) Less than 12 hours later, Gen. David Petraeus - who is not God, although certain members of Congress have been known to worship at his altar - semifainted at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.

snip

So you sort of knew from the portents that President Obama's big Oval Office speech was not going to be a terrific game-changer. The way things had been going, the president was lucky that a man-eating pterodactyl didn't come crashing through the window during his opening remarks.

snip

The way things have been going, you can't be too careful. If the portents keep piling up, it's easy to envision a headline like: "Lone Tourist in Pensacola Eaten by Visiting Walrus Herd."

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06...

When Collins is "on" she's one of the best writers out there: go read the whole thing.  You won't be sorry.

English usage is sometimes more than mere taste, judgment and education - sometimes it's sheer luck, like getting across the street.
E. B. White

That was good (15.00 / 5)
this part made me laugh...

"He is frustrated because he cares about the small people," said the chairman of BP, who is Swedish. The word choice made the president sound as if he was working on an environmental disaster in Munchkinland.

Thanks Youff
