UNDERWATER DREAMING

by: KNUCKLEHEAD

Fri Jun 25, 2010 at 23:52:06 PM EDT

(look what greed has cost us - promoted by RiaD)

As I previously stated, I would only post images of underwater life from the oceans of our planet, which I`ve stolen a little of, to put in my reef tanks, till the oil gusher is stopped.
That`s the least I can do.
I feel so much for the people on the gulf coast.
I want as many people as possible to see what is being devastated below the surface, even if it aggravates their sorrow at what is being devastated above it. The only way for the gulf coasters to be "made whole" is if all the damages are brought to the light of day.
I`m sorry for all you are going through.
I hope my little bit helps.
I live on the California coast, so I know how your paradise feels to you.
I`ll start off with a shot of my coast, which I will defend as much as I`ll try & defend yours.

I`m often a stranger till Friday rolls around, so I may not be up on the news.
I hope your partner is doing well & I hope to soon see more pix of your equine baby.

KH: your pics are too depressing BUT (12.25 / 8)
we all need to see what BP has destroyed.

English usage is sometimes more than mere taste, judgment and education - sometimes it's sheer luck, like getting across the street.

Exactly, I won`t let them get away with anything if I can help it.

Spent a couple of days... (15.00 / 6)
...this week out at the Oregon Coast, Florence and Newport.  Couldn't help but think what our Sea Lion Caves would look like if BP was hanging around and killing our waters, too.

I also remember growing up, when New Jersey's beaches closed in the 1980's because waste haulers couldn't care less what happened to the medical waste they dumped at the Fresh Kills landfill on Staten Island.

I'll start off with a shot of my coast, which I will defend as much as I`ll try & defend yours.

Oregon Brigade checking in!

It's time we all started kicking ass...

I too thank you knuck (14.17 / 6)
I look forward to your post and I am mesmerized by each pic.

You are so wise in your quest..

As I previously stated, I would only post images of underwater life from the oceans of our planet

as it is easy to disregard and destroy what one can not see.

Not seeing is not an option when you post your pics.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart as I stand with you and Jay on the pacific coast as a soldier to protect and weep with you for the gulf.

Thank you for joining myself & others who may live on our coasts, to press the love we have for them, in solidarity with those on the gulf who are losing theirs.
We have to convince those who do not live on the coasts that shores are not only of water, but mountaintops, forests & animals above & below our human lines of sight.

I Always Like Your PIcs, Knuck (15.00 / 4)
Even if I don't always comment.

Last week the wife and I went to Rickett's Glenn State Park. It's a 3-hour drive, so we didn't intend to do a lot of hiking. We just wanted to see if it's a place we want to camp. It is.

The plan is to drive up, spend the night in a tent, and then hike the falls trail. There are 21 named falls along that trail.

We didn't have time, the day we were there, to hike to any of those 21 falls, but there's another right next to the road; Adam's falls. Very close to the parking lot. I'd forgotten my camera, so I could only take a picture with my crappy cell phone.

Adam's Falls

We hike a bit, maybe a half mile, each way from the parking lot. The trail is nice, but I suspect near the falls (one of them is 94 feet!) it gets a little hairy.

I don't really wonder, any more, why I like getting away from civilization so much. ;->

Timbuk3 (15.00 / 5)
We often need to escape the travails of our daily lives.
I love small river/creek waterfalls.
I hope you do follow through on camping, & hiking the trail.

her favourites are the hawkfish, blue legged crab & eels

starting today i'll be putting your essays on the FrontPage every afternoon
as long as you post on this subject, on what this greed has done, i'll FP it

Speechless in MS (14.33 / 3)
Thanks Knucklehead for the magnificent photos and the considerate words and thanks Ria for keeping this front and center. I haven't much been able to comment on the situation down here near the Gulf. It alternately makes me very very angry and very very sad. And now, even me and Haley Bubba can't keep our heads stuck in the sand anymore because we'd get our heads covered with nasty stinking toxic sludge... I am of kindred spirit with all of the wild things in the sea - but that video of the pods of dolphins, oh my god the dolphins...

I grew up loving dolphins and as I've grown older I've learned to love them as true kindred spirits. Thinking mammals of the sea, dolphins and whales are really so much like us that it absolutely makes me cringe to think of the dolphins and whales choking to death in oil, watching their family members die off in agony around them...

Though I have grown to detest those who capture and train wild dolphins and whales, I still can't help but give some sort of thanks to those humans who made Flipper, the TV series. But mostly, I love Flipper...This is what they have killed, times a thousand or three, in reality and inside me...

Thanks,
I`m so bummed about your gulf coast.
My feelings of anger are twisted & confused, like the tentacles of my Purple Anemone.
