Just curious: (13.20 / 5)
Was I too mean in this exchange?

http://www.dailykos.com/commen...

I think I was dealing with an idiot, but it could have been a college student with absolutely no knowledge of history due to NO Child Left Behind tests or something.

Certainly few people who graduated after me got the kind of spelling & grammar lessons I got.  Or even the education in classical music: and that was an elective!  I chose it!  And it was fun!

So: was I mean?  Or dealing with a doofus?

English usage is sometimes more than mere taste, judgment and education - sometimes it's sheer luck, like getting across the street.
E. B. White

B/c I really DON'T want to be mean (12.00 / 4)
but sometimes it's hard to tell...and sometimes the idiots at work drive me over the edge.

Y'know, I actually like him -- he's a sweet guy, he means well, I would trust him with my life: but never with my money.  Not after he left $60 on the counter & when I said "You can't do that!" he said, "Why?"

He's an innocent: as innocent as newp's baby goats.  But not qualified to work in a store that gets robbed periodically.  And ripped off daily.

English usage is sometimes more than mere taste, judgment and education - sometimes it's sheer luck, like getting across the street.

why you stupid fuck.. i bet when the lord said brain you thought he said train & said said 'lord please make it a slow one!'...or are you just paralyzed from the neck up? what part of 90% tax do you not understand??

Sweetie, you remind me of the sister (12.00 / 3)
I always wanted but never had.  Yeah: I think we have a LOT in common.

Youff (13.83 / 6)
I could not see one mean thing about that exchange.

Maybe you were feeling mean but you didn't project it in what you wrote.

This defines a kind person in my book.

how do you do that? (13.20 / 5)
you always say what i think in the very nicest way possible & get the point across

I was going to post about (12.67 / 6)
Gasland, the movie, as the open but warning it is a depressing movie.  Here is a snip of it if you dare, it is going on in 35 states and all around the world, while they rape the earth and poison it inhabitants.  We have Chaney to thank for this.

i'm sorry (13.60 / 5)
that'll have to wait until later....
it'll mess up my whole day i feel sure :(

sometimes i must be an ostrich to save my sanity.

When I was a kid (14.20 / 5)
Nixon or somebody outlawed mountaintop removal mining.  I was appalled when I learned they're doing it again.

Not long ago a fracking operation in NW PA blew up.

I'm with Ria: I can't watch.  Not now.  I'm holding onto my sanity little bits of South Pacific at a time.  (See below for explanation.)

i found a beer i like. Old Speckled Hen. it's british. (this is a big deal because i normally do not like beer a'tall!)

the princess was delightful. she loooves sketti. & her new crocs. (1pr-periwinkle, 1pr- black)& how in the garden when it rains it turns to mud. & it plooops into the bucket.

they are now on their way to the mountains.

kelpie is fine (14.75 / 4)
and faaaaat.
she's a hienz 57 but has an extra helping of newfoundland in.
she tends toward broad in the beam.
she loves it here, she grew up here...but she tends toward being underfoot(that is getting better)....  we don't really mind her. the only thing is she loves to sleep on furniture. she's so huge she only fits on the couches here. we lay a chair on each couch so she won't get on.

Oh, dear. I woke up (13.25 / 4)
with this in my head & just had to share it.  (ducks & runs)

Can't find the rest of the Mitzi Gaynor film version, but here's a HS version: whole song but definitely lacking the film's panache:

New one I just found: (14.33 / 3)
Glenn Close just doesn't have Mitzi's pipes, but the choreography is lovely:

One last clip from the 1958 film (15.00 / 3)
version with Mitzi Gaynor.  (Does anyone besides me remember that the actor who plays Luther here was also "My Favorite Martian" on a 1960s TV show?)

ay, Papo's babies... (11.00 / 3)
Besita is front and center, with Choco next to her and Muñeca is in the back. Carmela flew off the car as soon as I bolted out the kitchen door! can you believe how big they've gotten? Besita and Muñeca are Guadalupe's babies born in December, and they're NOT happy mama has kicked 'em out of her stall because of the newborns  :o(

one thing's for sure... Papo and Hector will NOT be allowed near Guadalupe until next year! the goats are almost as bad as the rabbits... they come into heat about every 3 weeks!!!

mrD just reminded me..... (7.67 / 3)
his dad worked with the forestry dept. (smokey bear)
he was district forester. at the "shop" where they worked on all the equipment the men had this bright idea of getting a couple goats so they wouldn't have to cut grass. the whole shop area was enclosed by 8ft chain link w/barb wire on top so no one would steal the equipment. so mrD's dad okays the plan, goats were bought.
at first everything went according to plan- the goats ate the grass & the honeysuckle growing up the fence. then spring came on in full & the garage doors were once again thrown open during the day. the goats realized the fur-less people had white boxes & bags usually when the sun was straight up... so they started hanging around at noon. then they found where the fur-less ones put the white boxes & bags when they were finished with them. & O my! the furless ones threw down little burning sticks that soon quit burning & tasted delicious!!! & they found these wonderful obstacle courses made of bright yellow metal... several different ones & they kept changing fairly regularly so the goats were always fascinated & wanted to climb. they didn't each much grass after that.
every morning you could ride by there & see the goats on the huge tractors & at lunch see them waiting for handouts. & eating cigarette butts.

how high would the gallows need to be to hang the rich man?"

LOL! (15.00 / 3)
they're smart little buggers, ya gotta give 'em that! they definitely know where and when it's time to feed the dogs or horses, so I had to get them used to knowing when it was their own feeding time in the barn and then lock 'em down - then I can take care of the rest of the crew.

we'll get the cage that I built for the front of the car back up tomorrow, and that should stop them for a while. maybe I should build them an obstacle course like at MrD's dad's shop... maybe a giant "cat condo" of big cubes I can make out of pallets? then let 'em play king of the hill all they want! I know the pics of them on the car are funny (hell, I piss myself every time), but the damage they've done to the car isn't funny at all!

Hey, newp, are you a member (15.00 / 3)
at I Can Has Cheezburger?  Those pics can't be directly posted at Orange, but they can be directly posted here and at other Soapblox sites.  (For Kos, you have to download to your computer, then upload to Photobucket or Flickr & copy from there.)

I ask b/c I think it would be a hoot to try to caption your pics...especially the goats on the truck.  But there's also the new baby goats, and Dreamer, and the rabbits, and...well, you get the idea.

Aw, man, just Google it and then (15.00 / 3)
register there: same as registering on any blog or other website.  I always click the "remember me" button so I don't have to log in every time I go somewhere.  You'll get your own page -- again, same as any blog -- but I don't know what their privacy rules are like for your photos.  If you have concerns about keeping proprietary rights to your work, then you should check that out first.  If you're not worried about having your pics stolen, then you're good to go.

B/c I don't have a camera, I just steal the images there.
