G'morning, Ria! (14.20 / 5)
Well, surprise surprise, the GOP is accusing Kagan of being liberal.  I sure hope so!  The NYT did a story last week called "Meet the Kagans" and although nobody in the family would speak to their reporters, a lot of people who knew the family spoke on the record.

Seems like a very nice, liberal, NY-Jewish intellectual family, very much in the NY tradition of intellectuals.

I'm inclined to like her.  Now, if only Roberts would suddenly find a need to spend more time with his family....

English usage is sometimes more than mere taste, judgment and education - sometimes it's sheer luck, like getting across the street.

PS: I have decided (15.00 / 4)
to root for Uruguay in the World Cup, and I hope my firefly friends will join me.

Why?  Well, the U.S. team lost and is out of the game.  And b/c one of my favorite customers at work is from Uruguay.

My other favorite team is Mexico.

Anyone else here like soccer (futbol)?

I was pulling for Mexico, myself... (13.83 / 6)
After the US got kicked out.

Mainly so a million Mexican-Americans could hold a celebration in Jan Brewer's front yard, and so that hundreds of hatemongers heads would explode.

:)

As for the game itself, nah.  I've tried, but just can't get into it.  I don't know.

One thing, though - I love Yellow Cards!

I want to carry them around the city with me, and 'card' random people who deserve it...

Since Portland is Soccer City USA, they'll probably know what I mean, too.

Pretend you're sleeping on the bus so you don't have to move for the pregnant woman who just boarded?  I'm gonna run up the aisle to you and present you with a Yellow Card, sir!

Litter?  Yellow Card!

Etc etc...

Pass me a bottle, Mr. Jones...

My hubby (13.60 / 5)
likes soccer.  I didn't know he did until he became disabled and started watching it.

it's funny (14.50 / 4)
how stuff like that jumps out
after years of being together, thinking you know everything about someone then
BLAM!
something happens & new hidden aspect comes to light.
it's always so exciting to discover the new bits isn't it?

truthfully? (12.83 / 6)
i don't know enough about soccer to like or dislike it.
certainly not enough to follow it!

It's like basketball:nonstop (11.00 / 2)
The difference is that basketball gets huge scores but soccer doesn't.

Both sports, however, are interesting.  Unlike baseball and football, which basically involve watching the grass grow.
