with each sunrise,

even above the darkest skies,

rays breathe new life into a new day.

a new beginning...

the opportunity to embrace just how precious

and rare and wonderful it is to be alive,

to take even one more step along our chosen path.

though the road we travel may be paved with struggles,

seemingly insurmountable obstacles,

the exhaustive tears of loss and suffering,

we possess within the deepest part of our hearts

an indestructible and eternal life force

capable of changing any poison into medicine,

any obstacle into a springboard for growth,

even the most piercing pain into healing comfort and joy.

may our lives soar with the boundless power of the human spirit,

and with hearts as expansive as the clearest blue sky

may we cherish our own life,

cherish one another,

cherish each new day,

and arm in arm let's begin a new journey

that will echo triumphantly into eternity.

what a great song, Ria (12.60 / 5)

I love the pictures and the posting that you provided, newp! (14.20 / 5)
They're beautiful!  Thanks for posting them all and sharing them with us.  Hope you, Juan and all the animals are doing well.

:)

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

thanks, Miki (12.60 / 5)

You're welcome, newp! (14.20 / 5)
Hi there, newp!  Glad to hear that you're all doing well.  Aziza is blazing away...and she's just a doll!  :)

That poem (13.40 / 5)
is fantastic.  It rings with truth and hope.  I think fireflies are ready to begin any journey arm in arm.

I love the pics too.  :)

oh, sister (11.67 / 3)
I'm glad you liked it - it's just my 3am not able to sleep ramblings... but it came from my heart, and I believe that as long as we're arm in arm we'll be able to succeed on our journey, come what may.

You (13.33 / 3)
ramble really good. :) You should do it more, but I hope you don't have to have insomnia to do it.  You deserve to have restful sleep and pleasant dreams every night brother.

Awesome. Thanks newpioneer...

I appreciate the poem and the pics a lot...

I'm looking out for you on the tropical weather scene. I'm not a "real" expert, but I do know something about the subject and I have been tracking these systems nearly religiously for a decade now... I'm worried about your island this year. The enhanced rainfall that you are experiencing lately does not bode well for the rest of the season. There are also a number of other factors which are still pointing to an above average year (TWC video) for Atlantic/Caribbean tropical cyclone formation, and we are heading into the most active time of year for cyclogenesis
.

Your area doesn't usually start forming these storms until August, so Bonnie is also a slightly early indicator that your part of the basin will be active.

picture: July 20th - Tropical wave responsible for formation of Bonnie is circled

I'm wishcasting a light season for P.R. but I do think you'd better be ready, my friend.

Stay tuned for updates...

arm in arm, my friend. and I'm right with you tracking what's going on in the Atlantic, everyone I know is concerned with our early storms and the increased ocean temps. just as your graph shows, Bonnie formed right on top of us, and we've had almost constant downpours and flash floods that didn't let up until yesterday... hopefully the forecast will hold and we won't see anymore rain until late Monday night. I sincerely appreciate your wishcast... but take a look at the wave that just left the African coast...

wave (15.00 / 4)
I'm glad it looks like you will have a few days to dry out. I'll be watching that wave. I guess it's way too early to tell if anything will come of it, but it does look menacing. Do acronyms like ENSO and MJO mean anything to you? I have several hundred links to share with you if they do!

please! (15.00 / 5)
send the links and I'll be sure to study them all!! I'm familiar with the el niƱo southern oscillation, but the Madden-Julian oscillation will be new territory for me and much appreciated. thanks, irev!

OK (12.00 / 4)
I'll start organizing them a bit better - I need the good excuse to do so! I'll send you an email sometime in the next day or two with a bookmark file. What browser do you use, btw?

Last year, someone at dKos (11.40 / 5)
was doing diaries about incipient hurricanes...I think he(?) was a meteorologist in real life, too.

Anyway, what I'm suggesting is:  Why don't you do a coupla-three or four posts here & tell all of us about ENSO and MJO?  If you have the time, of course, and want to.  I, for one, would be delighted to learn more.  Weather, imo, is inherently interesting.  And I still remember the devastation Hurricane Agnes brought to PA.

From what even this ignoramus regarding weather (LOL) understands, however, (11.50 / 4)
El Nino's little sister, El Nina, is even more ferocious, and she's the one making the scene(s) these days, if one gets the drift!  Batten down the hatches, newp....and be prepared...and safe!
