Saturday Open Thoughts

Up above is me now.

Alma :: Saturday Open Thoughts
Oh, I'm so happy.  We are switching back to Comcast.  I'm going to be able to do things again.  No more playing the Jeopardy theme song in my head while I wait for a site to download.

Comcast finally came through with a good deal and it will save us $65 - $70 a month.  $95 a month for phone (including free unlimited calls to Puerto Rico), internet, and tv with the digital prefered HD package and free HBO, Starz and Encore for a year too.  And its guaranteed to stay this price for the first year and not go up more than $20 in the second year.

The down side is it won't get installed until next Friday so by then I'll probably resemble one of those two down below from my week long anticipation.

Lala update:  I think the mouth rinse we had been using 3 times a day was keeping her mouth numb, or something.  We stopped using it yesterday and today she's been able to eat some baby chard.  Another reason for my Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!  :)

Have a great weekend.  Whats on your mind?

Hi, Alma! (12.00 / 5)
Such good news: your internet woes will be solved, and Lala's eating chard!

Gotta run: my antivirus update is almost done downloading.

English usage is sometimes more than mere taste, judgment and education - sometimes it's sheer luck, like getting across the street.

Some of (15.00 / 3)
those updates drive me bonkers.  Its like they know when you are right in the middle of something.

I saw your post about the new woman at work working out well.  I sure hope she stays!  I'm glad you knew the kid had come up over on his register so you didn't drive yourself bonkers trying to figure out your shortage.  I take it the money orders are usually all done on the register you were on?

No, you can do (12.33 / 3)
money orders on both registers.  I'm not sure the money order was the source of the problem.  I'm just glad the amounts were almost exactly the same.

Back to the grind again today (sigh).  At least today's delivery is dairy/iced tea/lemonade.  Stocking the walk-in cooler is a mostly pleasant escape from the customers!

I think (15.00 / 2)
Katie would agree with you.  Actually I know she would.  She has a few regulars that she loves and the rest of the customers she could do without.

I'm glad the amounts were pretty even too.  Saved you a whole lot of headaches.

Restless... (13.75 / 4)
Can't sleep again.  Nothing to do with excitement here, though.  Everything to do with damned insomnia.  Heh.  I'm half-asleep and half-awake.  Grrr...

SE Sunday Parkways is Sunday (hey, that's tomorrow!), I'll be an "Intersection Superhero" (should I bring my cape?) somewhere near Sunnyside Park.  I love these events. :)

Mount Tabor's been cut out of this year's route.  The Hawthorne Street Fair is also going on that day, will be a fun but hot (90-plus, gha!) day.

Pass me a bottle, Mr. Jones...

Insomnia's (15.00 / 3)
a bitch.

I had it constantly for a few years.  Thats when my cat Ro got used to me petting her all night long.  Once I got over the insomnia is when she taught me to pet her while I am sleeping.  She'd just gotten to used to that petting to let it go.

Tomorrow looks like a lot of fun, except for the heat.  I'm going to picture you in a cape whether you wear one or not.  ;)

We need more (15.00 / 3)
hours in a day.  Thats all there is to it.  I still don't know how I did it when the kids were growing up.  I don't really think I've slowed down that much.  Maybe the insomnia was because you were worrying on how to get everything done at once?

Got the good thoughts and vibes going for you Ria.  I know you can do it sweety.

I can't tell you how it felt watching Lala eat that lettuce yesterday.  It was almost like watching a miracle.  LOL  She wasn't doing as well by late last night but it was almost time for her pain med, so I figured the pain med must really work.  Its almost like her prescription food, better known as "piggie crack" or just "crack" here (and yes, I call her my little crack baby) gives her the munchies.  As soon as she's done with it she usually goes over and tries to eat other stuff.
